You can register a domain name with hundreds of companies. The key is to make sure that it is registered in your name and that there are no hidden charges.
Any website you host or email can be with any company after that.
If there are websites you like and you feel perform well, you can look up who they are hosted.
I would always recommend a company that has been around for a while and you can call.
There are a lot of scam companies in this area

GoDaddy has cheap rates and a reasonably good control panel for managing your domain names and DNS. I'm not as impressed with their hosting services. I buy domains there but host elsewhere.

godaddy.com has done some shaddy things. I prefer HostGator.
