More than likely you will have to have a copy of your divorce decree. I know I had to have mine, I got divorced in GA and remarried in VA. I just goggled VA marriage laws and it told me maybe you can do the same to find out if you need it or not.

I am a Texas Divorce Lawyer.
It would be best if you had a certified copy of you final decree of divorce with you.
If you need help obtaining a certified copy, I can do so for any county in Texas for a flat fee of $250. You should get you final decree in the mail about a week after you pay the fee (which can be done instantly online).
E-mail me: kgober@rwleelaw.com to get started. Or, call 512-827-7548 (8AM to 10PM).

I was married in Las Vegas and I had to bring my divorce document with me. I didn't mind. That piece of paper is the most valuable possession I will ever have.
