Bad pump, or bad rack and pinion?

it could be the pump or the rack or both . the fluid turns dark because of the rack wearing, the rack is aluminium.sometimes flushing the system will help,but it,s time consuming and doesn't always work

sounds like the pump cause there ain't no rack and pinion on power steering
