What can we do to discourage pseudo-candidates running for President?

Already this year (not to mention in past Presidential cycles), there have been a number of individuals who have been toying with a run at the Presidency, but are more often out there trying to get publicity for something: a new book, a tv show, a business venture of some sort. Democrats as well as Republicans like to engage in these fake runs for Chief Executive.

Any thoughts on how to curtail blatant opportunism of this kind?

Update:

ADDITIONAL NOTE: I am not pointing fingers at any one "candidate." I am pointing fingers at what's becoming an increasingly common activity of the opportunistic.

Sometimes they run just to get their message out, or to have a say in who the eventual winner is. Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, and Donald Trump are probably doing this.

You mean like Sarah Palin? The very best thing you can do to make her go away is ignore her existence. She lives for the spotlight and the camera lens, and her adoring public. I'm confident that if all three were removed from her she would give up her future bid for president and drive that fancy Magical Mystery Tour Bus with the 3 foot "Sarah Palin" autographed letters on both sides and the massive Constitution on the front. She always says "show me the open door" I think this would oblige her.

I don't want to alarm anyone, but I think this person may be more than a pseudo-candidate. She's making millions with this road trip for her presidential run, and I do believe that's her goal. With this movie she has coming out "The Undefeated", this will give her all the extra publicity she needs to make that final step to candidacy. God help us all. I don't know why they didn't call the movie "The Defeated" since she's failed at everything she ever tried to do. She failed miserably and Dropped Out as Alaska's Governor. She failed John McCain to the extreme as VP candidate. She constantly embarrassed him and took away hundreds of thousands of votes. "The Undefeated" will not show the true, bumbling side of Sarah Palin.

He who warned, uh, the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed."
