should i start anibal sanchez tonight?

Its a head to head league, overall im 3rd in the league, facing #1.

I'm leading right now, 6-4,

Heres the dilema: matchup is over tonight, im down by 7 Ks, the only other stat in contention is whip, which i lead by .03, it currently stands at 1.04.

So, do i start sanchez, risk the whip, and hope he can muster 8 Ks and hold down his WHIP? Or right off the Ks and hold on to the whip?

Thoughts? Opinions? There is no correct answer for sure...

Update:

He's my last pitcher. Matchup ends tonight

Update 2:

I did end up starting him, he was pulled after 6 with 6ks (grrr), and a 1.17 whip. Which wasn't bad enough to lose it, close though. .01,

I would sit him tonight. You're winning against the top team in your league, there's no reason to risk the loss. Although the odds are he will have a good outing, if you choose to start him, you're expecting him to have an outing with a WHIP below 1.04, AND to have at least 7 (ideally 8) Ks. Understand it is certainly possible he will not hit 7 or 8 Ks and still have a "good" outing. In 15 starts this year, he's averaged 6.7 Ks per outing, while his WHIP on the year stands at 1.13.

So although the odds are he will have a good outing, the odds also say he will not hit 7 or 8 Ks, nor will he have a WHIP under 1.04. Even if you are talking about the Mariners, there's no reason to risk losing when you already have the win locked down.

Well Sanchez has a 2.90 era and 1.14 whip vs a Mariners club who is 29th in runs ,30th in BA,30th in OBP,and 29th in slugging so statistics say that you should play him,but you know how baseball is.I think he will perform well tonight though....the baseball gods hate the Mariners right now.

yes go for it and don`t fret the whip , unless your benching the rest of your staff , any one of them could come in a game and blow that out of the water. And I running Sanchez out to the mound myself today ,

not sure if you`ll get this in time , but good luck
