I have nothing on my start up screen. Nothing happens when I left or right click. I can open task bar which allowed me to open email and use some icon programs and also use explorer. What can I do to fix this problem? Thanks

Update:

I already did Open task manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del), end the process 'explorer.exe'. Then from the menu, click File>new process>type...

explorer.exe

Click 'OK' Exit task manager and re- start.

and didn't work

    EDIT:

You might need to get hold of an install disk for your operating system (XP/Vista/Win 7), borrow one if possible, and boot with that (any one will do as long as it's the same version eg:Home/Pro/Basic/Premium etc.).

Start in SAFE* mode and click Start (then Run in XP) and type (in the search bar in Vista/Win 7)

    sfc /scannow

(note the space between sfc and /scannow)

(in the search bar in Vista/Win 7)

    and press Return/Enter.

If asked to insert the Windows disk, do so.

    When the scan finishes, re-start.

*Note: On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5 or F8 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8 for system recovery!) then use arrow keys to highlight 'Safe Mode' and hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit enter/return.

If that doesn't work, email me and I'll send instructions for a non-destructive recovery (not enough room here!).

First, attempt restarting the computer. Wait. an prolonged time. Like 10-quarter-hour. If it would not load like common, do your CTRL-ALT-DELETE ingredient, yet rather of working your courses rapidly, interior the Run field form (with out expenditures) "explorer". Wait returned. it is going to coach each and everything as common; it would desire to open My archives. Restart the computer. If it nevertheless does it, i'm sorry yet i'm baffled. a minimum of you recognize a thank you to get on your laptop via calling explorer rapidly. I do have a feeling that in case you wait it is going to end what that is doing. each and every sometimes once you install a sparkling application, it is going to configure it. this might take an prolonged time and components no seen comments, it particularly is why i propose you to attend. wish it works!
