What were your thoughts on the Macklin/Sturm and Alexander/Matthysse fights?

I thought both decisions were terrible.I had Matthysse and Macklin both winning by at least 3 rounds

How did you score it?

It's been a minute PBF, nice to see you back.

I thought Macklin got ROBBED. I had it 117-111. Sturm had a few good rounds, but won five at best. He shelled up most of the time, and when he landed a few good shots, Macklin came right back with four or five. Sturm didn't deserve the win or a draw, and the two judges who scored it 116-112 for him are idiots. That was a terrible decision, and the worst I've seen in awhile.

I had Matthysse winning 96-93. After watching the fight again, I can see how someone may have scored it 95-94 for Alexander, but I don't agree with it. Mattyhsse clearly won rounds, and some of the rounds Alexander won were close enough to go either way. Not to mention the knockdown. I think Matthysse got a raw deal on that one.

What goes to show both are bad decisions were the 96-93 Alexander, and 116-112 Sturm scores. If those two really won their fights, then people wouldn't be angry over those scorecards. Nobody is angry over a 96-93 Matthysse or a 116-112 Macklin though, because they clearly fought better and were more deserving of the wins.

To cut it short, Macklin/Sturm could gone either way but the Alexander/Matthysse should be at most a draw for Devon or at least for Mattysse. Alexander should have 3 L in his records.

I havent had a chance to watch them yet unfortunately.

I heard Macklin did enough to get a decision but the thing is, you simply do not get decisions in Germany.I have seen some of the dodgiest stuff ever in Germany. Sven Ottke would have it ruled as a slip when an opponent knocked him down.Danny Williams was beating an opponent with about a minute left in the round and the bell went to signal the round had ended so he couldnt KO him??????? WTF. I wouldnt be surprised if you killed an opponent in the ring in Germany to have a coughin made for them then have it stood up with them in it and the decision given to them. Germany is the land of paper champions, apart from that the favourite boxers are Abraham,Klitschkos etc that are not German.

I have also seen some dodgy decisions in America, more hometown fights not involving the main fight centres of Vegas,New York etc.Alexander pretty much lost to Kotelnik and I hear lost again to Matthyse, I think it safe to presume Don Kings greedy, murderous fingers could have been in play here.

It therefore comes as no surprise that fights in Germany or fights promoted by Don King may have a debatable outcome.

What I want to see is Don King promote a fight in Germany and see how that goes.

    Both close fights.

I thought that the quality of Sturm over the quantity of Macklin may have pinched it for him as Macklin hit alot of arms & gloves, albeit worked much harder.
