Conservatives keep complaining about Obama 'lying' Can you name one thing?

There are oh so many things. How about this one during the campaign. Yet something happened back here in Selma, Alabama. Something happened in Birmingham that sent out what Bobby Kennedy called, “Ripples of hope all around the world.” Something happened when a bunch of women decided they were going to walk instead of ride the bus after a long day of doing somebody else's laundry, looking after somebody else's children. When men who had PhD’s decided that's enough and we’re going to stand up for our dignity. That sent a shout across oceans so that my grandfather began to imagine something different for his son. His son, who grew up herding goats in a small village in Africa could suddenly set his sights a little higher and believe that maybe a black man in this world had a chance.

What happened in Selma, Alabama and Birmingham also stirred the conscience of the nation. It worried folks in the White House who said, “You know, we're battling Communism. How are we going to win hearts and minds all across the world? If right here in our own country, John, we're not observing the ideals set fort in our Constitution, we might be accused of being hypocrites.” So the Kennedy’s decided we're going to do an air lift. We're going to go to Africa and start bringing young Africans over to this country and give them scholarships to study so they can learn what a wonderful country America is.

This young man named Barack Obama got one of those tickets and came over to this country. He met this woman whose great great-great-great-grandfather had owned slaves; but she had a good idea there was some craziness going on because they looked at each other and they decided that we know that the world as it has been it might not be possible for us to get together and have a child. There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don't tell me I don't have a claim on Selma, Alabama. Don't tell me I’m not coming home to Selma, Alabama.

Of course the time line for Kennedy;'s airlift was way off from the 'love affair' of O's mom and dad. This was just a bunch of codswallop.

Guantanamo Bay prison is still active. He "promised" to close it in one year after taking office. Here we are over two and a half years later still waiting. He "promised" to get our troops out of Iraq by 2011. We still have FIFTY THOUSAND of them there. He "promised" to get the economy back on track. Unemployment is at an all time high. Once unemployment benefits run out, the person is no longer counted as unemployed, even though he still doesnt' have a job. I can't have room to talk about it all. It is easier to ask "What has obama came through on in regards to ANY promise he made?"

I find the lies in his first year the greatest, "unemployment will be 8.5% without stimulus"...stimulus passed, we're at 9%...

"The deficit will be cut in half by end of first term"....it was tripled.

EDIT: "We can say he hasn't lived up to some of his promises and expectations, but to calls them lies is flat out wrong." So not following through on a promise isn't a lie? Ask a 5 year old what breaking a promises is; even they know it's called a lie. But, typical exceptions for Obama.

I am liberal and I can name one. While a senator he said he would not vote to extend the patriot act. He voted for it in 2008 and said we would revisit it when up for renewal. He did more than that, he signed it in 2011. I agree on Getmo, he tried to get trials and move the prisoners to US soil, all to be blocked by "We don't want terrorists in our homeland". That issue should be pushed harder by Holder, but hell he won't prosecute anyone but Google.

Good luck getting an answer on this one. I've pressed a couple of close friends hard. The only thing any of them has EVER come up with is the use of signing statements. Obama has in fact used signing statements in about a dozen or so bills passed in the past 3 years. Nearly all of them were 'good job Congress' or 'this is a really important bill'. But two of them in fact did say that he was going to ignore portions of the bill that he felt contradicted his constitutional authority. That's what they've got.

The Libya kinetic military action "will take days, not weeks". It's now in the fourth month and no Congressional approval.

He said he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. Instead, he added 4 trillion dollars.

he said he would "reach across the aisle" and than told republicans to "ride in the back of the bus"
