What if I am subpoened by a lawyer?
Would I have a choice to show up in court if I am subpeoned by a lawyer and not the court.

If you are subpoenaed, it doesn't matter who issued the subpoena. Lawyers are officers of the court. If you don't show up, you can be held in contempt of court and a warrant for your arrest issued.
