German Surname Meaning?
What does von Aswege mean? (pronounced ahs-wiggy) I know that von is most often associated with nobility and means "of" or "from". So I'm mostly looking for Aswege. Thanks in advance.
Then how is it pronounced. According to my Grandfather, it's always been pronounced "ahs-wiggy"

It doesn't have any meaning as a regular word. It might be the name of a place or an estate. Von was used before people regularly had surnames to indicate where they were from (it means "from"). I would guess this is the answer here especially because "Weg" means a path or small road. Place names often have something like "road" or "valley" as a part.
