Someone's using my email to send spam to people I don't know, help?
I'm getting emails from "postmasters" telling me that my email could not be send and it was marked as spam. Thing is, I didn't send any emails. I'm on hotmail, btw, I checked my sent box and there are a bunch of emails sent out from my email address in spanish or something. What do I do? I changed my password twice.
Thanks,
Quinn

Your account got compromised. First change your password. Account help.http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/acct/in%E2%80%A6 for just about anything to do with your account. Then run anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Should be fine then.

There are 2 possibilities here.
1. Your own computer has become infected with an e-mail worm and is now being used as an illicit e-mail server...sending out advertising spam to everyone in your address book.
The solution is to perform a full-system scan with your anti-virus software and quarantine what it finds.
2. Someone in the spam-industry has "acquired" your username and password to your e-mail account and is using the webmail interface to send out advertising spams.
The solution here is to change your e-mail password. An un-easy to hack password must be 10 random characters long, using a combination of upper and lower case letters and numerals and punctuation. Change your secret question too.
Do not use your e-mail password for anything else. Studies have shown that 75% of all Facebook users have the same username (obviously) and password as their e-mail account. If your Facebook account gets compromised or phished, the hacker(s) have your e-mail credentials as well. Not good. Not good at all.
........
Do BOTH, the password change & the full system scan.
Best of luck.

When a computer is infected by Malware, it is being controlled by an actual person BotHerder@What is a Botnet?-- http://www.microsoft.com/security/sir/story/defaul... The main goal by the Malware makers are to scam you out of money, steal your credit card information, spam/infect all your contacts, use your computer as a Bot and steal your email accounts. If you have been a victim of this, please contact your Bank ASAP about the possible fraud of your credit card, change your email passwords from a different computer and contact your Friends ASAP and advise them of what has happened so they can take the neccessary steps to protect their computer.
QUOTE:
"Computers in a botnet, called nodes or zombies, are often ordinary computers sitting on desktops in homes and offices around the world. Typically, computers become nodes in a botnet when attackers illicitly install malware that secretly connects the computers to the botnet and they perform tasks such as sending spam, hosting or distributing malware or other illegal files, or attacking other computers. Attackers usually install bots by exploiting vulnerabilities in software or by using social engineering tactics to trick users into installing the malware. Users are often unaware that their computers are being used for malicious purposes. "

Microsoft How to get rid of malware

It's not a someone but a spyware that's doing it. Clean your computer with this:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_...
or this:
http://www.superantispyware.com/
After that, change the password to your affected email account.
Note: It would be useless to keep changing your password it you still have a spyware infection. Remove the spyware first.

digital mail spoofing will continuously be available, i'm afraid. substitute your digital mail handle or password or 'stay with it'. the final element you're able to do is stop utilising the favored unfastened digital mail debts that spammers understand the thank you to spoof, etc.

You need to clear your inbox and deleted e-mails... than change the password so that is is not automatically 'remembered. that way it will ask you for the password before sending,,,, and you can see what is being sent. Don't worry, it happens to all of us, and no doubt you will be getting another one soon,
