Left dog in my car!!!?
Yeah, so Yesterday I left my dog in my car for 2 minutes, that is right just 2 minutes and some guy had already called the police by the time I got back........ I went to return a video, and by the time I got back he said I called the police. SO, of course I got in my car and got outta there. I got a yellow lab 4 months, but she was in no danger, just barking because I left her alone for a minute. Was this guy a dick for not even waiting a second to see if I was coming back? I think so. According to the SPCA here in NC, your suppose to go into the store and have them announce it on the loud speaker and then if nobody comes, you suppose to dial 911. He just dialed 911 instantly, and for the record I had the windows cracked, but they were not half way down. If I had she would of got out, or more importantly someone would of stole her, she is the cutest lab. I knew I was just going to be a minute, otherwise I would of left her home. It was something like 90 outside.

Your dog should not have been left in the car, without the A/C running, period...nobody should have to hang out beside your car to see if you're "coming right back", especially since they likely don't know how long you've been gone when they come across your car with the dog in it...
What if you'd gotten held up in there for some reason or needed to use the toilet or who knows what??? You can't always get back to the car as quickly as you imagine, and the temperature builds up in there FAST even with windows down (remember, your dog can't sweat like you do, to cool off)...
Next time, take your spare car key and leave the engine and A/C running if you're going to leave your dog in the car...or don't take the dog with you...

If the puppy was barking himself into a frenzy, Many people will call. They see a dog in distress in a hot car on a hot day. They don't care if the dog has been there 30 seconds or three hours.
Windows cracked an inch or two will not keep the car cool. Try this sometime. the windows will need to be rolled most of the way down for the car to maintain outside temperature. The car will not become cooler then ambient temperature unless there is a wind blowing through it.
Anymore the only time I take my dogs anywhere is if I'm going to do something with the dogs or if the weather is really cool. I'll take my dogs for runs, to training classes, or training in the park in the early morning on summer days. Otherwise they stay at home. I do this to prevent well meaning people from turning me in as well as for the dogs' safety.

Well, I can't say who's at fault here, really. He did do the right thing because he didn't know how long the little guy was in there and being that hot out, yeah. Although, I don't see any harm done to the dog if it was only a few minutes like you say it was. ^-^
Meh, don't worry. He had a good heart to tell, but just be careful next time. High temperatures can really wear a dog out!

He did the right thing, he didn't know how long you would be. Having your windows open just a crack doesnt actually make a difference. You can buy dog window guards and have them on all windows, or get a cage for the boot so your dog can be in that and padlocked in, you can then have your boot open. Make sure it has plenty of water too, buy non tip bowls or the car. Don't do it again, it only takes minutes for a car to get too hot for your dog.

You're getting upset because someone cared for the health of your dog! It may be 90 outside but it is hotter inside the car. At 90 outside it would be about 115 inside the car.

You were the one who was wrong. If the temperature outside is 75, in just 10 minutes, the interior of the car's temperature will be 100 degrees.

He did the right thing, but you didn't do anything wrong. Next time you are going away for less than 5 minuttes, leave the engine, and the air condition, on. If the engine is on, people will know that you are comming back shortly…
