How do I get rid of string algae from my pond?

Pond was doing really good with clear water, you can see all the way to the bottom. Within the last three days all kinds of string algae started to form and it seems to be taking over the pond. I pull it out and the next day there is just as much. I cleaned the filter this morning and it was packed with all kinds of debris. The string algae is what I want to get rid of. Any ideas?

you will never get rid of all the algea, but there are things you can do to try and keep it down, and its a bit of trial and error introduce more oxygenating plants to try and outcompete the algea and try to get some floating plants to cover the surface like lilly pads, over time they will help but you still have to keep the plants in check, i would not use any chemicals they could do more harm than good one thing you can try if you can get it is barley straw which can help and then you can try to get the balance right good luck

You can try some snails..or put in some live plants. ( I have heard that Anacharis works well.)

I believe they also make chemicals that will stop the algae from growing but I have never used them.

you can get chemicals online for it

And for now you will just have to remove it by hand

if you leave even a little in there its going to grow bkac
