SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) is an insurance you paid into through FICA payroll taxes. It is federally administrated and where you live has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on your benefits. Same with Medicare. However, you are required to report change of address.

That is only so SSA has an address to contact you at, should they need to contact you, or send a letter of importance. http://ssa.gov/pubs/10153.html

The only thing that would effect SSDI is if you worked and earned over $1000 month gross. Other income like inheritance, winnings, rental property, stock/bond dividends, gifts, NON EARNED income, has no effect on benefits.

The only concern is if you are receiving food stamps, housing assistance, or Medicaid, which are state programs, they would change of moving to another state.

Also, if you are interested in returning to the work place, contact them about Ticket to Work, which will allow you to test you ability to work, without risk of losing benefits
