If I am to buy a house-for-sale, can I buy the house WITH the furniture, or not?

I live by myself and I saw a really beautiful looking house with magnificent furniture. And I was thinking, if I liked the furniture, can I buy the house WITH the furniture? Or not? Because I am an Architect, and I'm pretty rich too, for example, if the house was... $12,000, and I wanted the furniture with the house too, couldn't I just pay... Maybe, $19,000? Or you can't buy the house with the furniture at all? Is that the law? Thanks guys, I hope you can help me!

Generally speaking, the furniture is not sold with the house. It is either personal property of the previous owner, or possibly rented and staged to show off the house. A kitchen stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator are traditionally left, and sometimes a washer and dryer, but furnishings such as tables, sofas, beds, and shelving usually are not part of the sale. You should ask the realtor if the furniture is for sale. If he/she says they belong to the previous owner ask if you can make and offer on both house and furnishings.

Ok, first off, you are NOT an architect, but you dream of being one in the future..second, you are not even 18, so you do not live alone...Third, 12k for a house is pretty much a price for a place in a downtrodden part of town, or the house must have some major flaws, and I highly doubt it would have the type of furniture you are describing. LOL

Keep dreaming about the future, in the meantime, don't bother fibbing on Yahoo Answers. Some of us can read between the lines and elsewhere to know your true story.

And, to answer the question, of course, you can make an offer to include the furniture. The owner doesn't have to agree though.

That would be at the sellers discretion. I bought a house fully furnished. That was the deal. If the house you viewed had furniture there but the agent that showed you didn't say the furniture came with it I would go back and ask them. If they say furniture not included just give an offer and it is up to the seller then. Good luck with it :)

Yeah, I agree with Use Your Noodle. Someone with a college education would know that furniture generally does not go with the house. And a "pretty rich" person would not be looking at $12K houses.

If you have Goodwill Industries or a Salvation Army in your area, I'd start there. You can find a lot of household furnishings at your local yard & garage sales too. I also know that many household furnishings can be purchased at Dollar General, Family Dollar, & the Dollar Tree. Shopping for dishes, tableware, towels, cleaning products, paper products, etc. are very inexpensive, & it's a start. Worry about three rooms right now. The kitchen, bathroom, & living room. Hopefully, someone will have a "housewarming" party for you. Good luck!
