I don't know if my modem that connects the internet /cable T.V is wireless. It has a antenna and has a fiber optic plug in but not coaxial.

Im kinda glad my mom *sorta* knows stuff about this...
To answer your question...
Yes, the PS3 console DOES play blu-ray movies
To further explain of WHAT to do... Take the A/V cables, or HDMI, or composite (whichever one he use's... but to give some detail: A/V cables - red, white, and yellow cables, HDMI - a single, cable with an odd shaped end, kinda like a funny D, composite - green, blue, red, red, and white cables coming out of one end, it looks like a more cabled? version of the A/V cables...)
All you do is have the video cables plugged into the tv, you turn the ps3 on, insert the movie into the disk slot, on the XMB screen (its the main screen, with several things from left to right like Video, Music, Games, Settings, etc.) press left or right to go to the Video part, then go up or down with the directional pad on the controller to find a picture of a CD with the movie's title on it, and hit the X button on your controller for the PS3...

I got a hdmi element tv and my ps3 has blue ray too ...i dont see the difference in tv to play blue ray on ps3 .... as long as he got it on hdmi 1 or 2 plug he's ok.... the internet is ok cus verison is wireless wifi connection and to place that to the ps3 just use the WEP # on the bottom of the verizon router box :) other than everything else let me know if that helps out .... wirte bck if it doesn't ;)
Oh and I use red box too so it should be ok for blue rays its just a fancy word for better graphics and other etc crap lol

You don't *need* a certain TV to use Blurays. As long as the PS3 is connected to the TV you'll be able to watch the movie, it just won't look anywhere near as good as it would if you were using an HDTV.

I had a similar question last week. while attempting to find the answer I ended up getting a free Kinnect from quickxbox360kinectcentral.tk. my console arrived in 6 days and it's going to be great.
