Insulting a Police Officer by naming him on Internet (yahoo.answers or others) is it an offence ?
Can this Policeman sue me ? What is the penalty ? Example : I write that Mike Langdon is a fool and an evil. Mike Langdon is the Chief of the Manx Police. Can this mo-ron ask me explanations ? Can this cra-zy request the Judge to punish me for what I've written about him on Internet ? Knowing that I never permit to insult himin the face because I'll too afraid he slapped.
What I write about Mike Langdon I can prove it. So there is no defamation. On his website : Mike Langdon forum TT, there are others who share my opinion. What intrigues me about his site : he shows to the public only e-mail of more than 2 years. Does this mean that he has 2 years to pursue you ?

It is a personal opinion, but; it can also be liable, defamation of character and slander as well remarks against a Public official.

Writing something on the internet is the same as publishing it, perhaps in a newspaper or book. You are responsible and can be held to account for any offence.
A recent example of this is where some people named a footballer who had a privacy injunction on Twitter.

Why would he care what some no-mark writes on an obscure website?
It's hardly the front page of the national newspapers.

It could be classed as libel unless you can prove that what you are saying is actually true, so he could sue you, but it would be in a civil court and not a criminal court. Always remember they have a lot more money than you do.

Actually, no, theres nothing he can do unless you knowingly lie about him. There's actually a supreme court case about this. I forget what its called, but look up the "Thick Skin" policy. Basically, The Supreme court told this cop who tried to arrest a kid for insulting him to grow a pair (in legal terms of course, lol) and just accept that being hated is part of the job.

Yes... you could be sued for defamation of character and loose a lot of money... plus whatever the judge thinks is right. So, like if you don't have money, they can take your car, house, or anything else you might own.

Not unless you threaten him. You can call him anything you want, your protected under the first amendment. Just don't say you will harm him in any way.

Yes he can sue you.
The penalty is money.
He can ask you to explain yourself.
He can ask a Judge to punish you.
He would fail, however.
Plus, how would he even know who you are?
