If you take into consideration every factor of the game; offense, defense, discipline, etc. you'd have to go with Pujols. The guy has been unbelieveable throughout the steroid era. He's having issues with health this year for the first time, but he's back now, and should continue to contribute. THeres no doubt this guy is the best player.

It's difficult to compare a pitcher and hitter and decide which is better because they are completely different. Roy Halladay has been amazing over the past few years, he doesn't just start games, he finishes them. He works fast and efficiently, without a doubt he is the best pitcher in the game.

The question is now, who's better; Pujols or Halladay?

Right now it's Jose Bautista. His Wins Above Replacement number so far in 2011 is 6.1, which means he is on his way to a monster year.

What that means is an otherwise average team with him on it will win 6.1 more games in the first half of the season than a team entirely comprised of average players. Or his presence alone over an entire season will take an average team from a final 81-81 record to 93-69.

Edit: right now Keppinger has a 1.4 WAR, which puts him only slightly above average for a starter.

Edit: Reyes has a WAR this year of 4.1, which means he is having a very good year, but Bautista is leaving him (and everyone else) behind.

How hasn't anyone said Adrian Gonzalez yet? So far, he is the MVP of the AL with .348 BA/ 16 HR/ 75 RBI. Not to mention he is going through a slump right now.

His defense is near amazing as well. He is always a contender for the Gold Glove at first base.

Curtis Granderson is the biggest contributor to the Yankees being in the lead in the AL East and is tied for 2nd with the most home runs in the Majors and in the top 5 for RBIs.
