gIn August it easily can become around 50 grad celsius along with a 99% humidity which gets the most people. Outdoor activities in August aren't advised. The Gulf isn't a refreshment at all and only cooled/shaded pools will do so. Please be aware that it will NOT cool off at night at all.
I don't know why you decide to visit Dubai during the hottest month but you will have to go from A (aircon Hotel) to B (aircon Cab) to C (hopefully aircon destination).
Dubai is a visit worth, no doubt about that, but to enjoy outdoor activities, visit landmarks enjoy an outdoor dinner, etc. you may choose to visit between November and May.
You also should be aware that August this year will be the holy month of Ramadan which means no eating and drinking in public during daytime, changed opening hrs of shops, restricted nightlife, etc.
