Why are Vin Diesel's movies so terrible?

I understand this is a subjective, and rhetorical question... however, I just don't get it.

First off, let me say that I want to like Vin Diesel as an artist. He's unique. He's talented. And he has tremendous potential.

In the same capacity, his films, or at least the underlying premise for each, also have wonderful potential.

I truly do want to like his movies...

Yet, film-after-film, I am amazed at how the talents of a good actor, and the foundations of interesting story lines are literally undercut by shallow writing, and two-dimensional characters that make me want to punch myself in the nuts.

Specific examples:

The Fast and the Furious... Ok flick, but thin on plot. The foundation for a good story was there, but it fizzled. Fast. And, furiously.

Every "Fast and Furious" since... pure crap.

Pitchblack... great premise... awful delivery and boring.

Chronicles of Riddick... I have actually heard people fart more intelligible material.

XXX... It was like a comic book, written in braille.

Babylon AD... Super premise... horrible, horrible writing, and so boring I actually fell asleep watching it, four times (true story).

The Pacifier... WHO told Vin this was a good movie project to take on?? Did he lose a bet? If that movie were any worse, it would actually infect you with herpes.

Thus, the question remains... Why does someone with such potential, continue to poop-out awful, awful movies?

#1 answer is probably because his movies don't or almost don't have originality and quality.

The movies he does are awful because those are the ones he chooses. He doesn't have to take the role, and he gets to read the script before accepting it. He does these roles for the same reason a lot of actors do those roles, Money. There is no way he could be doing it for any other reason unless he likes working with these particular directors. But he should know by reading the script the movie will be terrible. He has no one to blame but himself and possibly his agent.

Go to any workout club during the day or any club at night and you'll find hundreds of Vin Diesels...maybe thousands. This one you speak of is probably just happy he even has a movie career. He seems like an ok guy, but I really don't see the artistic potential thing.

Absolutely now not, it used to be horrible. I consistently inspiration all earlier installments have been crap however no less than unique. Can't say the identical for this. Dull, uninteresting stuff. Not just about adequate movement and for a few intent they have got taken one of the positive racing franchises ever and became it right into a heist franchise. What?

It's more the story lines in his movies that make them so terrible. It's like all of the studios think that they should put him in baseless action movies or to give him neanderthal characters that are more muscle than mind. I know this man has great acting depth and can be more than fast cars and guns... but then again, no one's forcing him to pick these roles.

I thought Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick were pretty good.

I like him too. I liked fast five. And pitch black. He should get a role like commando or a hitman

He must be a Republican. They don't get the same quality roles as Democrats. :)
