His main contribution, also the most discussed is his efforts to "combat" climate change, specifically by campaigning on things that would reduce carbon emissions and promoting this message to the general public and public officials.
His most famous work, at this point, would probably be the film "An Inconvenient Truth".
Others will also say his main contribution was to politicize his environmentalism by spreading propaganda.
