Personally I do this all the time, but if your yard was in plain sight of somebody else's property and they chose to complain about it, that might be a ticket. Just make sure nobody could see you by accident, who would be upset by it.

If you can be seen from the street, not legal. If a neighbor can see you, without doing something crazy (like climbing a ladder), the neighbor can call the police and file a complaint. In the later case, the police would likely visit you to let you know, but wouldn't actually ticket or arrest you.
