What does McConnell mean when he says a real solution is "unattainable?"?

This morning, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) raised the partisan divide over the debt ceiling standoff to a whole new level when he said that any deal is unlikely as long as President Obama is in office. “I have little question that as long as this president is in the Oval Office, a real solution is unattainable,” McConnell said on the Senate floor. Yet in the same statement, McConnell also insisted that Republicans will “do the responsible thing and ensure the government doesn’t default on its obligations.” The nation will default on Aug. 2 if the limit isn’t raised, with catastrophic consequences. McConnell recently reaffirmed that defeating Obama in 2012 is his party’s “single most important” goal.

To me, it means negotiating is a waste of time. Both sides must be willing or an impasse is met.

I think this goes back to collective bargaining. The Republican Party has so demonized this tactic, they are unwilling to undertake it to do their jobs. After all, America is a Union. We citizens choose representatives to go to DC to bargain for us. If they will not collectively bargain for the best interests of citizens, they must be voted out. Just as if a Union Rep fails, he is not reelected.

McConnell means he will let the country burn all for the sake of defeating Obama in 2012. After the 2010 elections, McConnell didn't say that the Republicans' top priority was jobs or the budget; it was making sure Obama is a one-term president.

McConnell is a twit. The GOP are partisans, not patriots. They're more fixated on defeating Obama than they are governing this great nation.

He means that the poor Teabaggers can't get their own way, because, although they can cower the Republicans like a bunch of whipped puzzies, the Democrats will stand up to them.

Only cutting Medicare and Social Security and leaving everything else alone and not raising any taxes.

What does McConnell mean when he says a real solution is "unattainable?"?

    He wasn't speaking in Ebonics:

He clearly means that until the meatball is defeated in 2012 no true, long term solution can be implemented.

He means that Republicans will see the demise of this nation before they will cooperate with a black man as their president.

The GOP's stance on non-cooperation "no matter what" is shameful and repugnant. And they dare to call us "unpatriotic" or "anti-American"?

    Bizarre.

Obama doesn't want to give because he is not a good leader or president so you can't deal with him because he has the maturity of a 3 year old sticking his tongue out at you
