what would a girl think if i did this?
im kinda bored right now, and im just thinking about things.
what would a girl do, or how would she react if i walked by and said hi to her.
for example, i see girls in the bookstore all the time who are by themselves searching through the aisles for a good book. when i walk by they always look over and smile at me, but i dont know what to do for real. its easy to say just walk up to them and say hi, but who really does that? its the bookstore.
when would it be appropriate to say something to someone who is out in public like that?

Id personally just think you were being friendly. I wouldn't just walk up and awkwardly say hi, just start a convo about a book shes looking at.

If you're walking by, just quietly say hi, not a whisper, but in a low voice and wave and smile. If u run into her again, you can make small talk with her.

It might be a little awkward but I guess so.. I mean if someone I didn't know approached me I'd be nice but I'd feel really awkward. It might lead somewhere, but who knows
