When you text him just ask him random stuff if you google random questions to aska guy there is stuff like asking what's your favourite season, stuff you won't already know about him.

Maybe by doing this and asking these questions you'll find you have a similar hobby and you could ask him out to do that together or you could just casually slip in like the day before you come back you can text him and be like, 'so when do you get back?' and then he would say a day and you can say we should hang out some time and it won't seem desperate if you organise something to say in that text conversation!

And to get him to ask you out again, make it clear to him you are ready to have a boyfriend and start putting an x at the end of your messages!

Then if he replies and asks you to hangout with him, then you say yes. But if he doesnt, you text him asking him to hangout and may be for a movie or a lunch? He'll definitely say yes because he likes you. Also since you are fine to date him, why dont you tell that? If you wait too long for him to ask you out again, then he might start seeing other girl. Use that time on vacation to get in his mind and make it flirty then a day or two before he comes back ask him if he wants to watch a movie or something with you. While texting him send pictures and be flirty when you do. If there is a awkward point in texting ask him what he is thinking and that you like talking to him. Let him know you like him because he is probably thinking you still don't like him. Good luck

It should be fine, just tell him that you have something important to tell him when he gets back. You can explain how you are ready now and that you admire him now. And you should ask him out yourself. Sitting around doing nothing won't do anything for your sake. But text him what you feel, just not too deep, because text isn't the place for it and a lot of stuff can get mixed up on it.
