Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry..?
Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 were fairly easy for me. First semester Algebra 2 was easy, but then they switched my teacher second semester and I failed (retaking at summer school next year.) The way they do it at my school is weird..Algebra 1, Algebra 2, then Geometry. I'm going into my junior year and am currently attempting to get my geometry credit at OFL which is a continuation/home-school program just for the summer so I don't have to take it at school, but its hard because I have to teach it to myself and I'm a visual learner. Reading instructions right out of the book just doesn't do it for me, and I can't afford a tutor. If you've taken geometry, would you recommend I stay in the summer school program or just take it at school? If I do take it at school, would it be easier or harder? I'm assuming easier because I'm trying to jam a year course into 6 weeks all by myself...advice please?!

The reason why you may have failed semester II of Alg2 is because semester I is basically an advanced remedial of Alg1. Algebra I-II and Geometry are essential to your understanding of Calculus in the future. If you feel you can learn it all in 6-weeks (which I feel is very possible), and learn it well, then do it.
Geometry is a very visual subject that requires you to draw many pictures to fully understand it. That being said, I would find it a lot easier to learn it at school.
Just a word of advice = the best school with the best teacher using the best textbooks can't teach you everything; you MUST have the desire to learn.
Best luck to you! :)

At my school we took Geometry between Algebra 1 and 2. I didn't have any issues with that class. I though it was very simple and fun. There are a lot of tutor websites and videos you can find on your work. It helps to have a friend in the same class or find someone in the class that you can pair up with and help each other. :)

i took all those classes and struggled with Algebra 2 the most because of crappy teacher
but if you are a visual learner then i would recommend asking a friend that has already taken the class.. that can help you for free ! :D
but if you cant find someone to help you then u should just take it at school..Geometry can be hard with Proofs so its good to have someone explain it to you :)

I know exactly what you're going through. Reading instructions or about history bores me and I learn through experimenting. If you honestly aren't getting it, I recommend you wait until next year, because if you don't get algebra two you won't be able to understand concepts like calculus and trigonometry.
