GLASS STOP STOVE, WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THEM?

What do you like and don’t like about Glass top stove?

I want to change my electric stove to a Gas one; but thinking to buy a Glass top one. Are they good to have? What do I need to know before buying one? Because I never used one before I see them in people’s houses that’s about it.

I heard they have a “special” cleaning product to buy all the time to clean them. Is warm soapy water can do the job please? Again, I don’t see myself relying on chemical cleaning product right now.

Please tell what you know about glass top stove.

Merci Beaucoup mes amis!

all ive ever needed is alittle soapy water and a scouring pad. i love it, much easier to maintain than the old style, the real trick though is dont boil stuff over on it, it happens sometimes though but its not that big of a deal ..

I have one now that is a loaner from housing as we are in the military and I have one that we purchased in our home in the States.

It is recommended that you use the special cleaner which seems to be a three in one product, having a very mild abrasive, a cleaner and a wax to protect the glass top. We use it only very occasionally now. When we first received the loaner, it was apparent that the glass top had been used to toast bread-on the element itself. This is def not recommended and took numerous attempts at cleaning before it was cleaned. We use hot soapy water for cleaning up the grease and then spritz it with glass cleaner to shine it. If you don't have a severely burned on spill, they are easier to keep clean than normal electric or gas cook tops.

One thing to consider is what you have to cook in. Glass tops work best if you have pans with flat bottoms. We tend to use cast iron and have found that the pans with no rim around the bottom transfer heat much faster than the pans with. Also, have had to replace our coffee pot as it has rounded sides and tends to rock itself off center while heating.

I personally would have chosen gas if the option to have a gas cook top were available. This is simply because I have used both in the past and find better control of heat and more uses with gas. Hard to roast a pepper or a marshmallow on a glass top!

Bonne chance with whatever you choose.

I have one and it's awesome! Easier to clean than any other stove I've ever have and they heat up really quickly.
