car dies when i put it in drive?
i drive a 1989 Chevy Silverado 350 v8 has a little over 200k miles.
it just started doing this recently, when i would turn the wheel sharp (without giving it gas) it would die.
then it moved on to when i set at a stop light (for a really long time) it dies.
now its when i put it in gear. (for the first time for the day) it will die, but if i drive to Walmart, put it in gear, then its fine.
and it doesn't do any of it all the time... just sometimes.. im not sure what it is and does it need fixed asap?
oh and by the way, when it dies while setting at a stop light it just kinda rumbles down, no jerking or anything and i can see my oil pressure kinda shaking.

I asked my dad for you and he says that the idle needs to be turned up. Or there is the this valve/censor that's burned up and when you turn it it tells the engine to rive it a few more RPM's and it burns out. He says that the real issue is you having 200,000 miles on it, it's bound to break down. Hope I helped al litttle.

Definately sounds like a torque converter situation i'm afraid: what's happening is that the torque converter isn't disengaging the engine from the gearbox, and as quickly as you artwork mutually park the locking pawl is conserving the gearbox, which hasn't been proper declutched from the engine, which then stalls. Sound somewhat costly.

I like to try the least expensive fixes first:
Check out your Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valves.
See links below for detailed information:
