Does anyone else find it irritating when people say 'should of'?
My pet peeve - 'Should of, would of, could of' - I stumble when reading it! It should be written 'should have, would have, could have' or with 've. Wondering who of you guys finds it irritating? Who doesn't notice? and finds themselves writing it with an 'of'? :P

English is not my native language and still this is such a pet peeve of mine.
How can you not tell the difference when I, who learned your language at school can so easily? Especially when what they are writing clearly shows a certain level of intelligence (well, not always, but mostly).
Same goes for there/their/they're, it's/its, using apostrophes for plural (CD's), than/then and so on.

It does sound annoying...it's even more annoying when they WRITE 'should of' etc..... it's lack of education.
Another similar one is "I could care less!" ( for " I couldn't care less")....it makes no sense.
What I've also noticed on Y!A..EVERY DAY...is the fact that people whose first language is English are unable to distinguish between SIMPLE words in their own language... eg:
dose and does
then and than
to and too
their and there
were and where
weather and whether
defiantly and definitely
loose and lose
no and know
your and you're
The list goes on.....
The annoying thing is that if you point out their mistakes they get shirty...and claim it's a typo.... it happens too often to be a typo!

Most people's pronunciation of unstressed "have" and unstressed "of" is identical (the unstressed vowel of "the" followed by the consonant V), and only a pedant would object. What is objectionable and annoying is that their understanding of the conventions of the WRITTEN language is so defective that they confuse them whenever they put pen or paper (or hit their keyboard). It is the exactly the same ignorance that makes them fail to distinguish (in writing) between "there," "their" and "they're", between "yore", "your" and "you're," between "aren't" and "aunt", between "fought" and "fort", or between the Biblical word for a donkey and the four letter word for the fundament, etc. etc. etc.

Lots of little things like that annoy me, although I am trying to get a life.
My biggest bugbear is the current fashion for pronouncing the name of the letter "H" as "haitch".

You should of some thought for the people who like to write like that.

Yeah, I find it pretty annoying at times too. But sometimes, I make the mistake myself when typing fast. :P

Yes it is annoying. Bad grammar all together is annoying especially when people don't know the difference between 'your' and 'you're' and 'Its' and 'It's'.

Yes! You're not alone there, that really annoys me too >.<

That and the upward inflection and 'says' rhyming with days instead of fez and 'haitch'
