Is my dog pregnant? Only nice answers please...?

Ok that's a silly question..but I would like some help.

I'm almost 18, I'm a dog lover and have studied them (and livestock) for many years. HOWEVER, I've never raised a pregnant dog. Or even studied them much.

I took care of two pups ever since they were 2 days old because their mom left them, but I began to go through some hard times so I never did fix them (it slipped my mind)..a male and female.

Anways I found them humping (didnt see if they were stuck) and now the female's nipples are getting bigger..and she hasnt been in heat since then.

I know this is all my fault..not fixing them earlier.. but i refuse to fix her and abort her pups. The dogs arnt purebred..and they have different dads..so the pups shouldnt be too (if at all) deformed. The dogs are a year old. ):

She's pregnant..right?

Update:

I did fail to mention one thing,

she bred with her brother.

I know thats terrible ): I plan to fix her, the puppies, then after 6 weeks or so find all the pups nice homes.

Im pretty sure she and her brother dont share the same dad though..since a litter can have several fathers..and her mother was a stray.

Update 2:

Ok, thanks for the info.

Both were scheduled to be fixed tomorrow..but now ofcoarse I cant fix the girl.

But the boy is, he'll be fixed tomorrow.

Yeah sounds like shes pregnant to me. take her to the vet and see what they say, and if she is pregnant I agree don't abort them but make sure you get her done as soon as possible after shes had the pups.

Should be ok if you are pretty sure they dont have the same dad, obviously dont let the puppies breed with each other tho.

Good luck, I'm actually quite jealous, i want puppies!

the only way to know is take her in for a prenatal exam

    this should include x-ray/sonogram

mom should be started on puppy chow immediately for carrying and raising pups

if mom is able to carry and deliver naturally she and pups should be seen by a vet within 12 hours after whelping this is to make sure pups are ok exp. being brother and sister breeding and also to make sure mom has passed all pups and placentas

then when pups are 2,4,6,8 and 10 weeks old and then monthly mom and pups should be wormed ( only get the wormer from the vets

pups should begin to be weaned on moistened puppy chow what moms been eating

at 6-7 weeks old the pups should get first vaccines and by law stay with mom until 8 weeks old

it is expensive to raise a litter of pups correctly

in the meantime why not get the male neutered

They should be fine. Just don't breed their puppies and get the mommy fixed after. Oh, and yes, shes pregnant, which is, on the brightside, exciting because you have puppies! On the bad side, I'm sure you know this, but they might have health problems later on in life. :(

they are in heat every 6 months so her next heat may just be a little bit late or irregular, they can experience symptoms of pregnancy after being in heat due to the body thinking it may be pregnant. i think you should probably get her checked out by the vet though, just to be safe :)
