You can't really do this. The only thing you can get from someone's IP address is their ISP and the general location of where they live. Some geolocators are a little better than others.

For some reason http://www.ip2location.com/ seems to think I live in Rochester, New York - about a thousand miles from where I actually live. Oddly enough so does this site http://www.ipligence.com/geolocation

IP Sniper - http://www.infosniper.net/ thinks I live in Wichita, Kansas.

Perhaps my ISP is doing something as I've just tried several of these services and not one of them can get the state I live in, let alone the city.

Well you would need to buy illegal software to hack into Facebook's server then track her IP with more software. If your friends mum doesn't know much about computing, she'd have to employ someone to do it. Because it's all illegal, she'd have to pay them a lot for security reasons. Ultimately, it would cost her a lot. Also, when you trace someone's IP address, you can only get a somewhere close to there house and can't track it to their door number. Maybe like if you tracked the prime minister's IP (of Britain) you'd get Downing Street, 1 - 24. There's nothing to fear really. I'd call her bluff if you know what I mean.
