Stupidest Crossbreeding in your opinion?

Another question made me think about cross breeding of horses. I actually like some crosses, like the National Show Horse. Other crosses make me blink or shake my head, like the Fresian quarter horse Fugly that someone was selling locally a while back.

So in your opinion, what is the stupidest crossbreeding out there that you have run into, and why do you think it's stupid, or what was wrong with it?

My boss rescued two crosses that are arab/warmblood. Though they are both GORGEOUS horses, both are lame and unridable. Both horses grow at an odd rate and consequently have bad hips.

The ugliest cross I've ever seen was a QH/TWH cross. This thing had a long, slender head with mule ears but a bulldog type body with slender legs and huge hooves. U.G.L.Y.

I've found out that not very many breeds work with a Friesian. I have a lady that comes through where I work and she brags to every one about "her new breed" the Moresian (MorganXFriesian) They are such nice breeds by themselves. I think when they add them together it just makes a not so pretty Friesian.

On the other hand any other Baroque breed type wouldn't be bad crossed with a Friesian horse breed.

Also believe that and gaited breeds with non-gaited breeds should never be crossed!

QH, Appy, Arab or just about anything crossed with a Friesian. The only two breeds I have ever seen that looks good crossed with a Friesian is a TB or an Andalusian.

Miss Moom Noom- I thought so too until I found my Quarab. She looks just like a purebred Arabian, just with Palomino coloring. She's a beautiful horse.

My trainer and I once went to go pick up a little Appendix mare she bought in hopes of retraining her to be an adorable little children's hunter. While we were there we ran across one of the ugliest, poorly conformed creatures I have ever laid eyes on. He was only 14.2 hhs, had a massive body, stubby thin little legs, a massive head, dinky ears, a scraggly mane and a short tail. The woman we were getting the Appendix from told us he was a mix of Ardennes, Quarter Horse, a little bit of Appaloosa, and possibly a tiny bit of Arabian. It... did not work out well, at all.

Any cross that results in no registration papers, the market out here is not good enough for grade horses. Breed something that someone will eventually want, not something to fill the auction pens.

Having seen many very strange (in my opinion) crosses who actually turned out with great conformation, athletic ability and temperament, I'll say that the only stupid crosses are ANY BREED WITH BAD CONFORMATION/TEMPERAMENT crossed with ANYTHING ELSE. If people would just stop breeding horses with egregious conformation flaws and/or temperament problems, we'd be going a long way toward helping eliminate a lot of the "unwanted" horses in this world.

The people I bought one of my horses from, had a Standardbred/Haflinger cross. She had a nice head, but that was it. She looked really out of proportion.. The best part, they were going to breed her to an unreg. TWH colt that had a goofy looking eye.....

    Totally agree with Azeri...

I have seen some STUNNING Frieisan as well as Andalusian crosses....but I've also seen some bad ones... If you're breeding to something like that, you have to make sure they are compatible... There's a reason they are so anal about those breeds...

QH/APP/Fresian...didn't show much QH...had spots like a leopard app and all the mane and feathering of the fresian. Worse part is its a breeding stallion!
