What do You think of Michele Bachmann's migraines described as incapacitating?

A story from the conservative Daily Caller is raising questions over whether Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann gets migraine headaches that can incapacitate her for days at a time.

The story, which cites "three people who have worked closely with Bachmann," charges that the Minnesota lawmaker was hospitalized at least three times last year for stress-induced severe headaches. It says the migraines occur roughly once a week on average and can "incapacitate" Bachmann for days.

Bachmann's congressional office acknowledged that she was hospitalized in July 2010, but it would not discuss the reason.

The story says she was also hospitalized in May 2010 in Los Angeles after being "desperately sick from headaches" during her flight to the city and in October 2010 after falling ill (and being put into a bed) at a fundraiser in Connecticut.

The sources are described as acting out of concern that Bachmann could be incapacitated during a crisis if she becomes president as well as concern that she could lose badly in a general election campaign if the migraine issue takes center stage.

Do you think Bachmann being incapacitated during a crisis if she becomes president is a concern???

No person who has incapacitating illnesses like a migraine should be president. From experience, migraine pain makes it impossible to think at the highest level.

Terrell Davis doesn't have to make decisions on the magnitude a President does.

I do, too. They're sometimes so bad that I throw up and the light hurts my eyes and the only relief I can get is to be in a dark cool room. And I still manage to work and go to school. Why do yall have no problem with 0bama smoking crack, but find this suspicious?

Bachmann's entire campaign right now is just a moot point. Just like Ron Paul or Sarah Palin, only the most delusional of tea partiers think she has a legitimate chance at nomination. Random media bites and craziness that she puts out in an effort to make Romney look reasonable.

Look for Obama to soundly beat whoever wins the nomination (most likely Romney or Rick Perry).

I don't know, but your source is CBS, not exactly a warm spot for any republican nominee.

Now, ask yourself this, if three sources close to Obama came out and said he had migraines that could incapacitate him for days would that make a difference in your vote?

Everything is relative to how you think and believe. A democrat, or liberal would say yes to your original question, a republican might defend it or think about it.

Personally, I do have a problem with source you provided and the sources in the article. If these are so bad Ithink some reporter would have noticed something by now and would not need a source 'close' to Bachmann.

I guess libs just hate a powerful, strong, and confident woman.

Let me ask you this....does it really affect your chances on voting for her. I mean, I don't think it lowers her ability to be president. That was out the window long ago. Good thing about her running, she's not going to run for the House in her MN district anymore. So us Minnesotans can be done with her too.

Migraines certainly can be incapacitating, I think she needs to set down if she has them that bad, stress frequently is a trigger for them.

I think it is a political attack from Pawlenty on Bachmann, since she's his main competition for a victory in Iowa and if he wins Iowa in the current field, he has a good chance to emerge as the anti-Romney and take the nomination. Bachmann isn't likely to win the nomination, but she could definitely win Iowa and without winning Iowa, Pawlenty will be out by New Hampshire or South Carolina.

One of the former Bachmann operatives quoted in this story now works for the Pawlenty campaign.

That doesn't mean the attack isn't true, it very well might be. It also might be a lie and it might be an exaggeration or a subtle way of suggesting something more than what exists or something to that effect. But regardless of the facts, that's my educated guess as to why this story came out.

NOTE: I'm not criticizing Bachmann for having migraines. I'm not even criticizing her for having debilitating migraines that require medication. But the story that came out said that stress can cause her to be incapacitated for up to 3 days, something that would make serving as President completely impossible. It also strongly hints that there are some pretty powerful drugs involved. Again, I don't know if it is true, and if it is, that isn't a criticism, but it is a problem. It hints at drug addiction. I don't know if that is true, but if it is, that certainly is a huge problem. But true or not, it is definitely a political attack.

I think being handicapped to the point where you are unavailable for days is a big concern.

I don't think she is healthy enough to be president

I just heard this as well and think it is relevant. We have to know if a potential president is healthy enough to do the job. I'd have said the same about Obama, who I voted for, back in 2008. It is not personal to Michele Bachmann.
