What does the term "unlocked" cell phone mean?
I hope to take the SIM card from my current AT&T cell phone and put it into a new cell phone I would purchase. Can this be done and is that what is meant by an "unlocked" cell phone? If I can do this, is their other information I would need to know about a newly purchased phone for it to work? I want to do this only because I need a new phone, I am an AT&T customer with a fulfilled contract and don't wish to start up a new contract although I am satisfied with their service. Any and all suggestion are welcome. Can anybody help me resolve this issue.

As long as your new phone is an AT&T made phone, then you don't have to worry your SIM card not working. If it's a "smart phone" (like an iPhone, or blackberry) you might be charged extra.
