The answer to this question has a lot of variables. First we must consider the phone you are changing from along with that what services do you currently have to back up your contacts. If you have an app with AT&T that will backup your contacts to an online site, this is good because you can do a lot with them from the site. If you are hanging to a smart-phone this this will be easy because all you will have to do is export the contacts to a csv file (you will need Microsoft outlook on the computer) then import that file into your email account, most account have sync and syncs automatically (i.e Google) If you are changing to a basic phone it will not be as easy, however you should be able to take into the store and have them transfer them.
