Is there any special equipment needed or used for just the shot making

Hey Johnny. Some special equipment certainly makes some of the shots easier. For example, there are many types of jump cues. Some are great for regular jumping or stuff that might come up in a regular game. Some are better at jumping if the cue ball is really close to the blocking ball. Some are good at jumping really far and others for jumping really high. Different jump shots may require different jump cues. And I'm not even getting in to the shots where you have to hold multiple jump cues in one hand!

Masse cues are also helpful for most of the masse shots that require either putting tremendous spin on the cue ball or making the cue ball slide really far before curving. Heavier masse cues can also be helpful for jump-masse's.

There are also special props, such as a stacking ball that allows you to balance another ball on top of it, siamese balls which are screwed together, or 'crazy' balls which are weighted off center so they roll funny.

It depends on what trickshots you are attempting. Do you have any specifics in mind? But to answer your question most trickshots require no additional equipment, only precise technique and accuracy.
