Spotting on the birth control pill Tri-Sprintec?
I have awful acne, and I'll be starting Accutane next month. Before I can begin taking it, I have to be on birth control for one month. My doctor prescribed Othro Tri-Cyclen, but the pharmacy gave me the generic Tri-Sprintec. I started taking it on the Sunday after my period started, on the 3rd day of my period. I've never been on birth control before, but after my period ended, I kept spotting brown-black chunky blood ever since. I'm now half-way through the second week, and I'm still spotting heavy enough to use two pantyliners a day. When will it stop? It's really hurting my sex life. Not to mention, this pill has been making me break out very badly.

I'm in the very same boat as you. Just not for the zits. I just started the stuff and I was spotting heavy too. Its just your body getting used to the birth control. It'll happen maybe for a month or two then it'll quit. I'm hoping it'll end sooner, y'a know?

With any birth control you have a high chance of spotting more frequently in the first year.

Well, when I got on TriSprintec last August, I had spotting for the first couple months. If you're really concerned, please see your doctor - but remember that stress does affect your body. You're only on your 3rd month and it usually takes about 6 months for your body to fully adjust. :)
