Spotting on birth control?

My doctor prescribed Othro Tri-Cyclen, but the pharmacy gave me the generic Tri-Sprintec. I started taking it on the Sunday after my period started, on the 3rd day of my period. I've never been on birth control before, but after my period ended, I kept spotting brown-black chunky blood ever since. I'm now half-way through the second week, and I'm still spotting heavy enough to use two pantyliners a day. When will it stop? It's really hurting my sex life.

I was in the same situation two months ago, I called the clinic i go to and talked to a nurse about it because it was worrying me, she said that in the first few weeks, months even depending on the person you may spot... After my period was over with, during the first month i started i was bleeding enough i even had an embarrassing little situation during sex not knowing i would have blood coming out of me!... wait until your done your first pack and see how things are going, it stopped within 2-3 weeks for me but if your concerned hit up a sexual health hot line or call your doctor they will give you a valid answer it sure helped calm me down!

did you start taking your sugar pill when your period started or the birth control pill.. you're not suppose to take the birth control pill while you're having your period..only after it has stopped. if you did than that might be why..
