I'm know nothing about snakes. Which is the best snake to start with? And how much should you feed them?
Okay well I've been thinking about getting a snake for a while now and have been wondering what is the best snake for a beginner? I've hear that Ball Python's are good. Corn Snakes, King and Milk Snakes. And I think I remember seeing Garter snakes? Any other one one that is good with being able to be held a lot and that can travel a little here and there? And what do I feed them and how much a day?
Well I did try and look up when to feed them but came up empty. I kind of suck when it comes to research new pet's. And by travelling I mean when i go to my mom's house once a month or once every two or more months.

Hi, you sound like me a couple years ago. i was in the same position you are now and knew nothing about snakes other than i thought they were cool. When i started looking into getting one i considered all of those options. i settled on a California king Snake. This snake is beautiful, affordable, docile and loves to be held, my snakes eat great, and also not as picky about husbandry as pythons.
Just to clarify im not against any of your other options but let me say why i love these snakes. the pythons are slow lazy and often boring, also they can grow to be absolutely huge in later life. Corn snakes on the other hand are over done, everybody has one and they provide little to no challenge to care for. the reason i like The california king is because they are fast, curious, docile, don't grow to be large, and eat great. I feed all of mine a appropriately sized mouse once every week. Also they are unique, they are called king snakes because they kill and eat other snakes and are unaffected by most venom's, one of their primary food sources are rattlesnakes in the wild. which is a cool story to tell your friends to make your snake seem more bad *** then their corn snake.
here is a few websites i recommend to get you going
reptmart.com (i buy all my snakes from this website, great service and happy animals)
Zilla.com (i recommend the "zilla deluxe snake kit" it comes with everything you need for a king snake or a corn snake) this way you don't have to hassle with bulbs lamps and tanks...blahh blahh blahh
good luck with your choice but remember any animal you choose always love and respect it

Ball pythons and corn snakes are both great starter snakes. Personally, I went the ball python route. However, if you go this route you must know that ball pythons can be problem eaters. If they are stressed (usually do to the husbandry not being correct) than they will most likely go off food.
They really are amazing animals.
Here is the care sheet for them:

I don't know much about corn snakes, but I do know they are very easy to take care of.

Although I find it great that you are interested in snake keeping, it worries me that you ask how much will you be feeding them A DAY. It shows me that you've done absolutely no research into them, because if you did then you would know that you definitely don't feed them daily.
I also ask why would you want to travel with them? What do you mean travel? A lot of snakes can get stressed out if they are moved time and time again into new enclosures, or just moved around. A heap load of problems can come from stress.
Anyways, I encourage you to start your research by looking at those care-sheets, and go on from there!
Edit: Well start off with those caresheets. I would also encourage you to join the BP.net forum. There are TONS of useful information and resourceful and friendly people there, that will more likely than not help you choose the right beginner snake for yourself!
I'm a member there and I've learned so much about, not only ball pythons, but a heap load of other reptiles just by reading all of the thread and browsing through the forum.

i would say corn snakes. they are great snakes with amazing attitudes and they're pretty easy. they don't eat a crazy amount. it all depends on the snake. mine is 5ft and still only eats fuzzies every other week. i do a lot of research on snakes so im constantly learning more for the future and i recommend the same thing.
