93 Ford Ranger steering problem. Clunking sound when turning wheel......?
Every thing seems solid under hood but heavy metal "clunking" When turning steering wheel around corners, like a metal bar is flopping around. Checked manual, can't really tell what it could be? Any ideas? No tilt steering wheel.

u joint or if it has a cv shaft those are the most common things to make that noise besides the gearbox for the steering

Jack up truck 1 side at a time & grab tire top & bottom- wiggle in & out. If loose u need wheel bearing.Grab tire frount & rear=wiggle . have some one look as u do this. Good luck-G-B !
