You get it by contracting the bacteria from someone else by physical contact with them or something they have touched. One of the most common places people get Staph infections is from shopping areas, specifically shopping carts. That's why it's nice of Wal-Mart and other stores to provide sanitary wipes for shopping carts.

If you have a Staph infection, it could very well be fatal. You need to go to the doctor immediately. Without antibiotics, the staph infection will spread and destroy live tissue and eventually kill you.

You get a Staph infection from either not washing your hands when you went to the restroom, or having physical contact with someone who didn't wash their hands. It is a bacterial infection so yes you need to go to a doctor because it can turn septic and cause you all kinds of health problems.
