Help with Cookworks breadmaker - experienced breadmaker users, I need you!!?

Hi, I bought this Cookworks Signature bread maker, which has quite good reviews on the Argos website but comes with an instruction book that has been badly written, with some vital information left out.

Before its first use it seems to want you to heat it up, but doesn't say how hot or how long or how!

"Open the lid and remove the bread pan and clean the baking chamber. Do not use sharp objects and do not scour! The bread pan is non-stick coated, grease the bread pan and baking chamber empty for about minutes. Cool down and clean it again: finally put kneading bar on the axle inside the bread pan."

It appears 2 bits of an important sentence have been missed out. I found another similar model's instruction sheet on the internet which said 10 minutes, but had the same unhelpful sentences otherwise.

If you have a bread maker with sensible instructions, what does it tell you do to it before using it for the first time?

Thanks.

Wipe the baking pan and paddles with a clean damp cloth before putting it in operation. DO NOT use abrasive scrubbers or cleaning powders. Do not clean the baking chamber as no debris should be in there unless you want to clean it with a clean damp cloth and then dry with a tea towel. Make sure it is turned off when performing this one. For the first heating up ONLY place the empty baking pan in the appliance and set it to the last setting. MIne is number 12 which is BAKE only. Turn the appliance on and leave for 5 mins only. To stop the machine after the 5 mins press the start/stop button until a long tone is heard. Because the heating elements are slightly greased at manufacture a slight smell will occur. Don't worry this is normal and will disappear. Allow the appliance to cool down completely and once again wipe the baking pan and kneeding paddles and the outer surface of the machine with a clean moist cloth.

If you want any tips on baking go to Carrs flour website where they have brilliant recipes for breadmakers and tips of what to do and not to do.

    Happy baking

    Good luck

    Hey :-)

I'm sorry to hear your problem. But I have a solution. Bread is soooooo much easier to make that you think ya know? Making it the real way is so much more rewarding too.

Not sure if you're prepared to give it a go I know you'll be happy :-)
