how to prepare for my uk car practical driving test?

Well I have my car practical driving tests in 2 weeks. How can I prepare for this test as I am taking a lot of lessons but I feel I have to run through scenarios in my head about it to pass?

can also someone give me a run down of what will happen on the day? I need the info to be up to date as the test has changed from last year.

You just have to make sure you are ready to take it, which you should be if you've taken all the lessons and your instructor is happy. Just try and relax and don't get too nervous, its nerves which seem to get a lot of people, did on my first test nerves made my left leg shake and my clutch was going crazy.. I passed second time round at the start of last month by just making sure i was relaxed and kept all my routines in my head. On the day you will turn up at the test centre and have to go in and just sit with your instructor then just wait for your name to be called up by an examiner, they will then check your license so make sure you take your provisional and counter part paper, and your theory pass certificate. Then you'll probably have to do a quick sight test which is usually the examiner pointing to a registration plate for you to read, then you may be asked a couple of questions about the car, which you should of prepared for as there are not many questions so easy to learn, then its off you go just follow the instructions and you have 10mins of independent driving to do, which is pretty easy, i found it fine just following the road signs yourself. Even if you take a wrong turn you won't be failed its then the examiners problem to get you on track. Just do everything as you have been learning, its very rewarding passing, good luck :D

There's no such thing as a "legally required time" to use the handbrake. On test, you must use it every time you change direction of travel. Otherwise, the rule is, if you have time to apply the handbrake you apply it. That, then, would be while stationary at a red light, or in a non-moving queue of traffic etc. but not necessarily for a momentary pause. It's a question of judgement for an experienced driver. Personally, for instance, when stopping at the lights as well as applying the handbrake I also sometimes keep my foot on the brakes too until I'm sure the twerp behind has noticed the brake lights and is stopping.

I will suggest you to just Practice, Practice and Practice.

If you are having private practice with a friend or family member, get together with your instructor and the person who will be helping you to practise in order to discuss the best ways of helping you to learn to drive and avoid the passing on of bad habits or conflicting ideas.

If you are ready for your practical test, then go for your driving test with the confidance, dont be nervous as nervousness is one of the main reason for failure in exam.

Read highway code book, as it is also one of the important factor in the driving test.

Some tips to be remember at the time of your driving test:

    1) Adjust your seatbealt properly

    2) Adjust your mirror properly

    3) Follow your inspector's instuctor.

    4) Follow all traffic rules

    5) Maintain proper spped dont be too fast or too slow.

All the best for your exam.

I cant add much more than MShar other than to say that within the 10 minutes of independent driving it remains YOUR responsibility to get back on track. that can mean a manoeuvre such as left reverse or turn in the road if safe to do so...although i wouldnt recommend adding a manoeuvre in case you make a mess of it....or use a roundabout to bring you back on course. As a last resort the examiner will intervene.

Ensure you have practiced route finding in your lessons prior to the test.

The advice sounds good to me, I passed in the 1960's so I can't usefully add anything to the above comments.
