How to start a Labor Union In Kansas?

Hi Me and my coworkers are wanting to start a union at an assisted living healthcare facility for alzheimers and dementia in Overland Park kansas. I was wondering what steps besides a vast majority vote i needed to take to get a GOOD union for us. Are there different unions for healthcare like what we are in vs. someone who works at mcdonald's? We are part of a company called brookdale senior living. We are a semi small facility under 100 beds. I'm not sure how many staff. The reason we want to start a union is we feel we are not being represented when we as individuals speak our mind on something we're not heard, and we go through the chain of command and nothing is done then the ones that complained are harassed and imtimidated so that they are made to quit. In our handbook we are supposed to get a 2% raise every year then we can have merit raises based on our performance should managment decide to give us one. Well it hasn't happened that way in the 4 years i've been there. I know a girl fresh out of CNA schoo that makes 14.50 an hour and then they don't pay the cma's who work as cna's cma pay even though they are no longer liencensed as a cna. So i think i gave enough info and was just wondering the stpes and if anyone had heard of any good unions.

$9 per hour (about $7.6 after taxes and whatever) for two years. In Los Angeles. My assisted living workplace has improved a lot (now they are planning an Alzheimers unit, heaven help us) but the problems you speak of seem to be industry-wide and I have been thinking about some kind of organization for a long time. Don't know if a traditional union would be a good fit for this industry but some kind of professional organization is badly needed. Things to bear in mind: only the best will do for our customers so if anyone wants to use them as hostages let it be MANAGEMENT. Also, striking can be done, but should be regarded in practical terms as the same as quitting. Obey the law and document everything your can with real evidence.

No surprise unions do not vote for Republicans, they dislike being referred to as thugs. Have you ever questioned right here what sort of ethics they coach to get that each one principal MBA? Maybe having a category in the way to keep your possess in opposition to leadership is a excellent thought. Maybe its a vital thought. After all, union individuals are taxpayers too, and they have got the proper to have their demands and matters addressed.
