Just finished Pride and Prejudice! One question?

So at the part when Elizabeth finds out Darcy was at Lydia's wedding, I was a little confused. Why exactly was he there?

Thanks!

He was there because he was the one who made Wickham marry Lydia. Wickham and Lydia ran off together, but it seems Wickham was going to either keep her as "kept woman" or abandon her, and Darcy found them and "encouraged" Wickham to marry Lydia--through some bribery, I think--to salvage at least some of Lydia's honor and protect the honor of her family. That's why he was at their wedding--he engineered it.
