best lens for product photography?

I shoot with a dx nikon (d300s) and am looking for a new lens for product photography. most of my product is table top/studio. I have read that the 70-180mm macro is a great lens(ken rocwell/ moose peterson). My product can sometimes be bright and flashy.

Learning about lenses will help you make the right decision for what you want to do. A 70mm macro may be way too long for some products and the only thing you use on others. We can't make a decision for you. Flashy and color have nothing to do with the lens.

What the 18-55mm lens lacks is, inner focusing. This makes it hard to use grads and circular polarisers. In terms of width, it's not lacking significantly. An interesting option would actually be the EF-S 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM, it's gives you a little extra width, whilst also giving you extra reach which you may find useful when picking out part of a scene. It's a lens which has IF so the front element doesn't rotate, and so a grad or CPL would be easier to use. A lower budget version would be the EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM, which offers most of the performance barring the extra bit of width. Should you need width and be on a budget then the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM is a good choice, but you'll still need to get a mid-telephoto lens.

A macro lens will be best, as they have zero distortion and are well-known for their sharpness. If the object you shoot is really tiny, then a longer macro lens will be more suitable as you do not need to get so close that you'll block the lighting. The 70-180 will work great, but it's not the only choice out there. Nikon and many other third-party companies also make 100mm macro lens that will work great and is cheaper as well.

If the object isn't really tiny, then a macro lens closer to the focal length of 60mm will work better as it gives you more freedom in a small studio space. Nikkor makes a great 60mm f/2.8G macro lens.

I would suggest a 18, 35 or 50mm fixed lens. Also, if your shooting high volume product photography like I am, you might want to consider a product photography software like Shutter Stream by Iconasys (http://iconasys.com/) - this should help with overall ease of use and throughput.

Too many people think of sports betting as just something they do in their past time. However, many people can see the potential that exists if you manage to have the right sports betting strategy and correct approach to betting in general. Are you sick of losing? Interested in finding out how to turn your luck around? Do you want to know which sports betting strategies stand to help you make the most from your betting?

Any good strategy should allow you to place bets based on a systematic method. Of course there is always a random element or so called luck involved, but betting is all about stacking the odds in your favor. There should be no guess work involved or bets placed based on gut feelings. Betting is a business and it should be treated like one. Any money you use for betting needs to be separate from money you use for your daily life or anything else. How can you possibly expect to follow a strategy with money that was originally set aside to pay next week's rent with? You can't. This will help you to focus on the task of betting and remove any emotional strings attached to the money.

So what makes a good strategy or what should you look for in a strategy before you decide to implement it? Any good strategy needs to have a positive expectancy. This means that in the long run you will win. The hit rate of the strategy needs to be above 50% for you to be able to profit in the long run. An ideal win rate should be between 60 to 70%, because you will need to cover the fees and other expensive associated with betting. Is it feasible to expect you'll be able to find a system that has a 100% win rate? No, it isn't. The best you can do is find a system that has a positive expectancy and stick with it. In the long run you will make more money than you can possibly lose.

Product photography requires good light and a sharp lens. I would recommend the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 lens. It is very sharp and quite inexpensive. Invest in good lighting.
