How to make flame thrower exhaust control bike?
How to make a flame thrower exhaust controller for a carb ran motorcycle. already have dual exhaust with no crossover and mostly open mufflers. It sparks and flames a tiny bit rarely now. My friend tried just a coil and spark plug near exhaust and nothing. I figured these control boxes ebay wants $100 for arent very complicated and it more than likely just a relay pausing spark to the coil on the engine causing access fuel to dump into motor and a second later sends spark to the separate coil and plug in tail pipe.
Hot rod guys have been doing this forever so I figured I'd give it a shout here and see if anyone has the answer. My bike is a v-twin and has dual carbs so it may get a little complicated to have it alternate and hit left and then right and not kill the engine but should only hit for a second. I dont know :) thats why I am asking for advice. thanks!

To build a TRUE flame thower exhaust, it requires pressurized fuel to be injected into the exhaust pipe via a special fitting with a small carb jet (to atomize the fuel) installed in the exhaust pipe and then ignited by a separate ignition coil and a spark plug installed in the exhaust pipe.
You would need to install a small electric fuel pump to feed the jet. Have special fitting welded onto the exhaust for the jet and spark plug and wire up a new coil in parallel to the existing ignition coil controlled by a toggle switch.
The bike shown below is fuel injected, so feeding the fuel is easy, just tap off the high pressure fuel line.

Flame thrower for some displays, movie stunts is a propane bottle and momentary contact solenoid to valve/pipe fitting, pipe goes to exhaust pipe -usually fitted to inside of pipe or close to frame so not easily seen, the propane bottle is tucked under gas tank or seat area, sometimes in saddle bags for the dresser look stunts. Air intake pipe using a pulse valve gets some extra air in a couple installations- otherwise the propane flame starts at end of tailpipe that has a couple holes drilled. A T fitting after the solenoid controlled valve with piping to each exhaust might be your best bet.

With your exhaust system you are probably running a little lean. For the flamethrower to work you need to be a little on the rich side so there is unburned fuel in the exhaust. jet your carb a little fatter.

it is done with a coil and a spark plug that is threaded into the exhaust pipe.I have that on my panhead and it works just fine.
