Why would my question get reported?

I asked "What is your biggest fear" in Polls and surveys, and was reported 10 mins after I posted it. It doesn't violate any of the guidelines and wasn't offensive.

You probably got attacked by trolls. The same has been happening to me. The best thing you can do is set your account to private and block any "trolls" you discover.

Some people, if they don't like you (even if they never knew you), would report anything you post because of who you are. It's unlikely that it has to do with what you post.

Source(s): I can post something and it will get reported/deleted. Someone else could post the same thing, and it doesn't get deleted, even if it gets reported. And I've seen offensive stuff never get deleted, even if reported. It seems to depend on who you are, not what you posts.

The deleted question is a violation for 'chat'. Most people don’t like that rule but they must follow it and respect it. Also, Y!A is NOT a chat room but a knowledge seeking website. Reading the rules here avoids getting a lot of violations.

The problem with polling questions is meeting the following guideline.

Polling questions, such as “Who do you think will win the election?” or “What snacks do you buy for a football party?” are OK on Answers. Certain low-quality polling questions can easily be interpreted as chatting, so avoid posting low-quality polling questions.

What is low-quality is up to each member to decide.

maybe you should have phrased it , so that it sounded more like a scholarly question.

but, ya some folks just love to cause trouble and some do not.

and why the fear question? do you have other fears that you want to talk about? just email me, and i'll help.

It actually does seem likely that it was reported for chat as it asked for an opinion not a factual answer.
