Definitely!!! I just went last week and did both parks in one day. In the morning, my family went to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in the afternoon. It was easily fit into one day.
Here's what i recommend: get there before the park opens so you can be one of the first in the park, go to universal studios first and head to the back (where the simpsons ride is) and do those first as the lines are tiny. Then make your way towards the front of the park, going on the rides a you pass them. Once you've done everything that you want to do in Universal, go to Islands of Adventure. I suggest eating at the Three Broomsticks in Harry Potter World, the food is amazing. Do anything you want to do in HP world and.then make your way around.the rest of the park. Stay till the park closes, I walked right on to the Dragon Challenge and Forbidden Journey. But get going before the big rush because trust me, its no fun spending 15 minutes standing on a moving walkway. Get out of the park as fast as you can so you don't spend half an hour in the parking lot.
I know you might be a little hypocritical to going to Harry Potter World latest in the day instead of first thing in the morning, but it actually works out better as I've tried both ways. This is because most people think that if they get it done in the morning not very many people will be there. In fact, in the morning its usually at capacity and there is a line to enter, but in the afternoon there is never a line to enter..!!
Hope I helped!! :)
^^not mine, my friends, but please check it out!! Thanks soo much!! :)

It is possible... You can (on a good day) do everything at the classic Universal park by about 12-1:00. We did on our last trip. We stopped for lunch at Mel's, and then headed over to Islands of Adventure.
We only did a few rides and things and we had to leave early because we had a dinner reservation back at Chef Mickey's at Disney. If you really worked at it, you could get the most of a day in both parks, and not see *everything* but you'll see the major stuff.

No. Depending on what you mean by "do both parks". If you mean rush around, gawk at the rides and leave, then yes. But if you want to actually ride on the rides, then you get into issues of how crowded the parks are and what the wait times are. On a busy day, just to get into the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at Islands of Adventure is going to take an hour. You would be hard-pressed to "do" 1 of these parks in one day if there is even a moderate crowd. So you had better go to Islands, since the rides are much better than Studios and it has Harry Potter.

Yes, it's possible. They are right next to each other, you can walk between them, and if there aren't big crowds you can do pretty much all of the best rides in one day. Do the Harry Potter one first, since it will always have the biggest line.

Harry Potter has like a 2 hour wait on a busy day. October however will be slow....kids are in school! you can probably do ONE park if you want to do all the things there. Save two days....
