• Figured material for a bounder in restyled robe (7) - BROCADE

(Jumbled letters of ROBE around CAD = BRO-CAD-E)

Go up an octave (5)

• Pretends to be a radio operator in a ship (5) - SHAMS

("Ham" radio operator (ie: enthusiast; amateur) inside SS = S-HAM-S)

Should have been paid on top of the fee (7)

• He'll put you in your place (5) - possibly USHER

(just a play on words)

• An angelic turn of phrase (6) - SERAPH

("turn" = anagram ... of PHRASE)

It may get broken - put it down (6)

Bread for the meal? Just the reverse (5)
